Day 42-How I like My Coffee
Hot, strong, and black; and a lot of it!
Day 43-Dinner is Served
I love Chicken Soup! But, I actually made this for my friend, MaryAnn. She is struggling with stomach cancer, and the chemo makes her very ill. I'm hoping that this will make her want to eat.
She is a very brave woman, and I daily pray for the Lord to heal her.

365 DPC-Day 42
Day 42-Flowers
Not only do I have some flowers, but I have a big tree full of flowers! I know, not your average flowers and actually they are called blossoms, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of them. The tree is stunning, beautiful, and oh so pretty! If we don't have a late freeze, those pretty blossoms will be apricots soon. Yummy!

365 DPC-Day 41
Day 41-A Favorite Resting Place
Last summer, on a visit to the hardware store, Mitch brought these home for me. Until it became to cold to do so, we took a few minutes each afternoon to share a cup of coffee and the news of the day. When winter came, the chairs were relegated to the garage; and it pleased me to no end, when Mitch got them out of storage the other day, and set them out in the front yard. Seeing them sitting out there on the grass is just as much a sign of the warmer weather to come, as the blossoms on the fruit trees. They make me happy; and once again, I am so thankful for the blessing of my home, and for the outdoor space that God has given to us to enjoy.
It's a beautiful outside today, a bit windy, but sunny and warm. I'm off to brew up some coffee and to invite my favorite person in the whole wide world to share it with me. Then, I'm going to sit my bottom down on my favorite resting place and......smile.

365 Day Photo Challenge-Day 40
Day 40-Funny Stuff
Whenever I am with my littlest grands, I come home with a 'camera roll' full of unusual photos and random videos. There are pictures of noses and eyes, photos of household items and furniture, there are pictures of the chickens and items found in nature. During our last visit, I downloaded a picture taking app for them, below is the result. I had a good laugh over these.

365 DPC-Day 39
Day 39-Something Icy
Last week, the grand kids (except for Dawson, he wasn't feeling well) and I went for a walk in the snow. We walked to a small nature reserve by my daughter's house; and no matter the weather or how many times we walk there, the kids love to walk there. They always find something fun to do, something that captures their imaginations. The reserve has walkways that meander around a small pond; with small bridges that go over little streams, that in the summer months run with water. The purpose of our walk on this day, was to break off chunks of the pond's ice and bring them home in a wagon that they had brought along just for that purpose. When we arrived at the reserve, they talked me into letting them "skate" about on the ice of the pond. And before you think that I was very foolish for letting them do so, I checked to make sure that it wasn't deep. The little bit of water in the pond had frozen solid and the kids had fun sliding on it's surface. They then tried to break off chunks of ice with sharp rocks that they had found. As they were hammering away at the surface of the pond, I asked them why they wanted to bring the ice home. They informed me that they wanted to use it for keeping our dinner drinks cold. I then had to use my best Ninnie-giving-out-her-wisdom voice, and give them a short lesson in pond germs and the tiny microscopic bugs the water contained. Therefore, we won't be using this ice to keep our sodas cold. We played for a while, and then we walked the pathway home; stopping to rest on a bench all covered in snow. In case you were wondering; yes, we did drag home a little red wagon full of pond ice.

365 Day Photo Challenge-Day 38
Day 38-Solar Rays
This challenge has been good for me. Even though it doesn't always go the way that I'd like it to, it has still been good. I've learned to be patient with myself and I've learned to not be so worried about perfection. It has caused me to look at the world around me in a new way. I start my day looking forward to discovering that day's subject to photograph. I'm learning to pay attention to the smallest details; the lighting, the background, and my relation to the subject. Take this day's photo subject for example: We haven't seen the sun around here in a while. It has been a gray winter. As I've said before, I like the winter time; but for some reason, this winter has got me down. Maybe it is because we have only had one snowstorm; maybe it is because I have a yard to work in and I'm eagerly waiting for spring, or maybe it is because we've had more gloomy days than usual. Everything looks drab; no color, just brown and gray. Day 38 of this challenge was actually last week and on that day, I woke up to sunshine and the flu. Even though I wasn't feeling well, I got dressed and went outside. I walked about the yard for a bit, enjoying the feel of the sun's warmth on my face. As I walked, I was trying to pay attention to the way the sun was shining. I couldn't very well take a picture of the sun directly; I knew that I needed to find something that the sun was shining through. As I saw it filtering through the trees, I found that there is beauty in the shadows. I saw that gray and brown can be beautiful colors too. I wish that I could say that the clouds stayed away, but they didn't; they soon blew in to cover the sun. But, not to worry............
"No winter lasts forever No spring skips it's turn."
