365 Day Photo Challenge-Day 38

Day 38-Solar Rays
This challenge has been good for me.  Even though it doesn't always go the way that I'd like it to, it has still been good.  I've learned to be patient with myself and I've learned to not be so worried about perfection.  It has caused me to look at the world around me in a new way.  I start my day looking forward to discovering that day's subject to photograph.  I'm learning to pay attention to the smallest details; the lighting, the background, and my relation to the subject. Take this day's photo subject for example:  We haven't seen the sun around here in a while.  It has been a gray winter.  As I've said before, I like the winter time; but for some reason, this winter has got me down.  Maybe it is because we have only had one snowstorm; maybe it is because I have a yard to work in and I'm eagerly waiting for spring, or maybe it is because we've had more gloomy days than usual.  Everything looks drab; no color, just brown and gray.  Day 38 of this challenge was actually last week and on that day, I woke up to sunshine and the flu.  Even though I wasn't feeling well, I got dressed and went outside.  I walked about the yard for a bit, enjoying the feel of the sun's warmth on my face.  As I walked, I was trying to pay attention to the way the sun was shining.  I couldn't very well take a picture of the sun directly; I knew that I needed to find something that the sun was shining through.  As I saw it filtering through the trees,  I found that there is beauty in the shadows. I saw that gray and brown can be beautiful colors too.  I wish that I could say that the clouds stayed away, but they didn't; they soon blew in to cover the sun. But, not to worry............

365 DPC-Days 35-37

Day 35-Outdoors

I have always loved the winter time, even as a child, there was such anticipation for the first snowfall of the year.  I know, most kids enjoy the summertime, and I did as well, but there is something about the winter time that has always made me happy.  To this day, I love to see the snow falling from the skies.  I don't really care to be cold, but the snow is the main reason that I love the winter time.  In the winter, the skies are gray so much of the time; the earth is covered in browned grasses and dirt, the trees are barren of leaves; but when it snows, it is magical.  Now the skies rain down glitter, and the ground is white and sparkly, the trees look like they are covered in frosting, how can that be anything but good?
On the day that I took this photo, our yard looked so drab.  For the first time that I can remember, I was finished with winter, I longed for spring!  I want to get out there in my yard and get my hands dirty; planting seeds and moving plants around.  I was so wishing for spring.  But what a difference a day makes..........Here is a photo of the yard on Day 35

Day 36-Something Red

These red chairs are from my neighbor's trash.  I drug them home and painted them my favorite color.....Red.
They make me smile.
I'd always wanted Adirondack chairs, but they can be so expensive.  Needless to say, I was over joyed, and blessed beyond measure, to find them out on the curb.  I remember thinking that God blessed me with something that I hadn't prayed for, but it was something that I had wanted.  I love His gift to me.
Also do you see something else that makes me smile?  SNOW, yes beautiful sparkly snow.  See the difference a day makes?

Day 37-Something I Dreamed of Doing

I would really like to see the Eiffel Tower.  It seems so romantic to me, as does the city it resides in.  Paris is the city of Romance, or at least that what the books say.  I've dreamed of walking over Paris' many bridges; stopping at a little Bistro to enjoy a cup of coffee; sitting on one of those cute wrought iron chairs, watching the people pass by.  I have wanted to tour the Louvre, and have a nice long visit with the masters.  I want to see the many sidewalk artists at work, and maybe even sit for a portrait. I want to stop at every bakery that I can and sample eclairs and croissants, fresh baked breads and rolls; and dine at restaurants that serve souffles.  I would love to rent a bicycle, with a basket of course, and peddle around the French countryside; stopping along the way at little antique and book stores.

Maybe this summer, after the snow is long gone, I will sit on my red chair, looking at the replica of the Eiffel Tower and dream of a trip to Paris.

Day 34-Today's View

This one was easy!  It took no thought at all.  I woke up with a cold, but still needed to get to work.  I want to go on record, saying that, I love my job!!  It is a huge blessing to be able to work at Calvary Chapel Tri Cities!  I'm blessed beyond measure that I work with a group of awesome Christians; and I have a great boss too!

Day 33-Friendship

Today was the Super Bowl......our Broncos lost........so sad.  But, I'm happy for all of my sweet friends, who love their Seahawks!!  Preparing for the game; the excitement of the day, was fun!  I'm so thankful for the friends that God has given to me.   My life is richer because of them.  Even tho we may not have some things in common; one thing we do..........We love Jesus!  He is the tie that binds, His love holds us close, and His grace covers all.

Day 32-Today's Drink of Choice

My new favorite.......Lemon-Ginger Tea.  There is nothing more comforting than a cup of hot tea, on a cold winter's night.
I love how my camera caught the water pouring into my cup.
