Day 51: My Favorite Couple

My all time favorite married couple is........Us!   I am a blessed woman.  I married my elementary school-girl crush, my high school sweetheart, and a sexy fireman.  After all of these years, he still makes my heart go pitty-pat. He is the best-est man in the whole wide world and I am one happy lady. We truly are my most favorite couple for all time.

365 DPC-Day 49-50

Day 49-Unusual Things

This is growing in my garden.  I'm not sure what it is.  It might be a tree from 'Who-Ville,' or maybe an alien life-form of some kind.  Whatever it grows up to be.......it is truly unusual.

Day 50-A Gift

I love books, especially vintage ones.  Even though they smell dusty and musty, there is nothing better than an old book.  I love discovering 'new' words too.  Whenever I am studying the Bible, I get out my dictionaries and concordances.  It is like a treasure hunt searching the pages looking for the definitions of certain words, and even discovering 'new' ways to use them in a sentence.  My sweet friend, Courtney, knows this about me.  She gifted me with this vintage pocket dictionary, all wrapped up in a pretty bow.  Plain and simple, I love it.

365 DPC-Day 46-48

Day 46-Something I Held In My Hand
I love doughnuts....any doughnut will do.  Cake doughnuts and raised doughnuts, and yes, fritters too. I especially enjoy maple glazed doughnuts and they are even more tasty with coconut and nuts on top.

Day 47-Something Purple
Spring is bursting out all over my yard!   There are blooms everywhere.  Last summer, Mitch and I, made room for more lawn.  We moved some flowers and some plants out of an area by the driveway, leveled the ground, and waited for Spring to plant grass seeds. Last week, out of that dried up bit of dirt, these little purple flowers pushed their way up. They are hardy little things.  As soon as the irrigation is turned on, I'll move them to the flower garden, where they can continue to bloom each Spring, along with their flower buddies.

Day 48-Inspiring

When I was a girl, my paternal grandmother, Dorothy, taught me to do needle crafts; with the exception of needlepoint.  I remember how patient she was with me.  I remember feeling so proud when she would compliment me on my work.  I used to embroider pillowcases and tea towels, giving them to her as Christmas gifts.  I remember that my grandmother was always so excited to open one of my gifts.  One time she told me that she had taken one of my gifts to work, to show it off to her fellow employees.
When Grandma Dorothy passed on, my Auntie gave me a few pieces of her needlework.
When my grandfather was ill, and in the hospital, my grandmother began this cross stitched sampler.  My Aunt remembers her working on it.  I love that the needle that she was using, was still woven into the fabric. I have never finished it, and I won't; the needle is still in the fabric.
When my grandmother became unable to live alone, she moved into an assisted living facility.  When my family and I would visit with her, she would sit and work on some piece of needlework while we talked.  All around her living room were framed needlework, cross stitched, and embroidered works of art.  Sitting on the sofa were beautiful needlepoint pillows, I loved the ones with birds and flowers the best.  When Grandma Dorothy went home, my Auntie gave to me another unfinished project, a needlepoint pillow cover. Auntie told me that Grandmother had been working on it, while in the hospital.  When she went into the final coma, they found it laying by her bedside.  It too, had the needle woven into the fabric, with the yarn still through the needle's eye. I don't have a photo of this one, it is stored in the garage, along with my baby book and other pieces of my past.
The second photo is of a piece that I stitched many years ago. It is a testament to my teacher, my grandma, Dorothy. I still enjoy the needle arts, but I could never master needlepoint.  I bought books and I asked a friend, but I never mastered the technique. I've tried over the years to finish the piece that she was working on, but I was never been able to make the stitches look like hers. I'd rip them out and place the piece back into the closet, trying again another day. If heaven is all that I hope it be, I will learn needlepoint.......I will sit next to my grandma Dorothy, and she will, once again, patiently teach me.  We will talk and laugh while we work, happy to be sharing all of the joys of heaven......so blessed to be with one another again.

Photo Challenge-Day 45

Day 45-Art
This is not a work of art painted by one of the masters.  It is no Rembrandt or Monet. My grandson, Mitchy, drew this, and it is beautiful.

365 DPC-Days 43-44

Day 42-How I like My Coffee

Hot, strong, and black; and a lot of it!

Day 43-Dinner is Served

I love Chicken Soup!  But, I actually made this for my friend, MaryAnn.  She is struggling with stomach cancer, and the chemo makes her very ill. I'm hoping that this will make her want to eat.
She is a very brave woman, and I daily pray for the Lord to heal her.

365 DPC-Day 42

Day 42-Flowers
Not only do I have some flowers, but I have a big tree full of flowers!  I know, not your average flowers and actually they are called blossoms, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of them.  The tree is stunning, beautiful, and oh so pretty!  If we don't have a late freeze, those pretty blossoms will be apricots soon. Yummy!

365 DPC-Day 41

Day 41-A Favorite Resting Place

Last summer, on a visit to the hardware store, Mitch brought these home for me.  Until it became to cold to do so, we took a few minutes each afternoon to share a cup of coffee and the news of the day. When winter came, the chairs were relegated to the garage; and it pleased me to no end, when Mitch got them out of storage the other day, and set them out in the front yard.  Seeing them sitting out there on the grass is just as much a sign of the warmer weather to come, as the blossoms on the fruit trees. They make me happy; and once again, I am so thankful for the blessing of my home, and for the outdoor space that God has given to us to enjoy.
It's a beautiful outside today, a bit windy, but sunny and warm. I'm off to brew up some coffee and to invite my favorite person in the whole wide world to share it with me. Then, I'm going to sit my bottom down on my favorite resting place and......smile.

365 Day Photo Challenge-Day 40

Day 40-Funny Stuff
Whenever I am with my littlest grands, I come home with a 'camera roll' full of unusual photos and random videos.  There are pictures of noses and eyes, photos of household items and furniture, there are pictures of the chickens and items found in nature.  During our last visit, I downloaded a picture taking app for them, below is the result. I had a good laugh over these.
